---------------------------

"John Daniel is a composer who lives and works in Chicago, IL. In addition to curating the Afterhours Ltd. and Reserve Matinee CD-R and tape labels, John makes music as Forest Management, the rare ambient project whose remarkably prolific output remains exceptionally consisted in quality. John's work evinces a fascination with the deepest of drones on the lower end of the sonic spectrum. Often working with loops from both analog and digital sources, Forest Management specializes in extracting haunting melodies and tones from beneath a mask of grainy textures.

On "Sleep To Dream", John uses a single song (the opening track from a beloved singer-songwriter's 1996 debut album) as source material, extracting 25 minutes of densely layered drone that oscillates between blissful warmth and brooding anxiety. "Sleep To Dream" "is both a touching homage to the source material and a testament to John's extraordinary ability to incorporate sampled material into his signature sound."
