"I approached basal with a more narrative structure to support the emotional stages I've been experiencing in my practice: giving each stage a moment to be recognized and then passed along to the next.

While working on it, the sequence came naturally, I think because it's a reflection of where my mind goes when left to its own devices: initial clarity & adjustment to surroundings, general adjustments and brief pleasant moment, punctuated by a memory that brings overwhelming emotions like gratitude or regret, then coming back down, going even deeper, then slowly coming back up and returning with a renewed more positive and open perspective.

At the same time I was re-arranging my studio entirely (I'd picked up a few too many tape machines), which helped open new possibilities / signal chains / processing ideas and uncovered new sounds and textures to blend into the mix. "
