Field Study: 33 Minutes is a solo guitar work that challenges traditional rhythm and structure that channels the unpredictability of anxiety attacks. Rather than try to corral the unpredictable, Field Study: 33 Minutes is the acceptance of rhythms and structures reconfigured and deconstructed. root takes, field recordings were used to add textures and capture the natural environment the work was created in.

I thought I knew Bitches Brew but I had no idea there were all these tape cuts everywhere and even some actual tape loops. All the starts and stops I assumed were part of the live sessions.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eAs I did some more reading I gradually got the idea to dig back into my vault of tape loops and put together an album based on edits and the sequencing of musical fragments, odds and ends.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe actual loops didn't exist in physical form any longer because of my habit of throwing out the tape and reusing the cassette shells over and over again with freshly spliced tape. Melodic elements were layered on top with the intent of keeping the music spacious and simple, with a feeling of calm and safety.
