"Fall evolved slowly over a four-year period --like a little space that I kept returning to while I worked on other ideas in between. There was a certain atmosphere to the initial tracks I'd made; the mood felt quite clear, first in There's a sort of urban British gray to the album --and the sense of melancholy that comes with that --with influences from bass music, post-punk, shoegaze, drone, ambient and even folk music It was about marrying an introspective, dreamlike, almost automatic approach to songwriting with the directness of dance music, seeking out this relationship between the different types of music I love and letting that find its voice. ”
