Great Circles:

" These live sets were recorded on the back patio of the Great Circles studio and shop, during the "Great Circles X Enmossed" event on August 14, 2021. The all-day event - where a sizable audience gathered under a canopy in the 90- degree Philadelphia heat - featured nine live sets from artists on the Great Circles and Enmossed labels.

The late afternoon set performed by Chaperone [David Coccagna] was an exercise in experimentation. The cassette players and ipad that are often components of Chaperone's live kit, were combined with two brand new additions - a shortwave radio and a mixer with on-board effects .

A bike mechanic by trade, Coccagna views experimental music as a byproduct of working class culture, in that the time spent at work limits the time and energy available to spend on personal creative projects. creatively in a live setting, the work is as new to him as it is to the audience,

WOLF DEM played the last set of the event under the dim lighting of the patio, after the long, hot, humid summer day. In typical WOLF DEM fashion - although in a more subtle and meditative zone than some past sets - they created soundscapes with the intention of transporting the audience to other places in their minds.

In preparation for the performance, WOLF DEM member Lars Kallich [aka The Ultraesthetic] removed all drum sounds from his live setup, focusing on textures and his signature use of manipulated samples from the natural world. aka Ladyprowl] to drive the tempo and percussive motion using the Dave Smith Tempest, which is always the core unit of her setup.
