This is a collaborative CD released in April 2023 by French drone artist Bruno Duplant, who is familiar to us, and Colombian sound artist/Dr. David Vélez on the experimental label Unfathomless in Brussels, Belgium, in a limited edition of 4 copies.Contains two deep drone songs mixed with field recordings.Below is an explanation by the author himself. "This project began with a conversation between Bruno and David about making music in times of social and environmental crisis. This conversation led to an exchange of recordings, found sounds, and other sonic materials. As an artist, Bruno considers himself to be a pessimist and finds this mindset present in his rich, largely collaborative music production. But David sees Bruno's prolific output and collaborations with other artists as evidence of optimism, or at least an act of resistance to pessimism. For both artists, new artwork is When it is released into the world, it has the potential to influence new ideas, experiences, and reflections, much like the vibrations of a small drop of water that reverberate where it lands.Bruno continues to make music. Seeing the need for this, David connects his artistic creation with challenging the moments of despair we experience and the impact this has on our emotional well-being. There is also an element of self-care in music-making, and in the case of this collaboration, mutual care. When the future of humanity looks as bleak as it does today, it is pointless to have hope, leading to inevitable disappointment. But for Bruno and David, artists have no choice but to create and continually involve themselves as an act of mitigating this paradox.'' "The distant sound of traffic evokes fragments of memories from the past. Lately, I've been having memories of a simpler time, New York at the beginning of this century, before physical contact became geographically impossible. We shared many musical and artistic adventures. The musicality of memories is revealed, and the gray sounds of the city (Caracas) at its quietest times do not describe or tell a story. and mixed fragments from my archives, prompting a work that uses memory to reconstruct the feeling of a time long gone, but one day feeling really close." The sound piece "Nox" not only reflects the traditional nocturnal bloodshed of the title, but also the multiple meanings created by the incomplete form of the dactylic hexameter and the palindrome In girum imus nocte ecce et consumimur igni. Based on interpretation. This painterly and poetic Latin phrase, often attributed to Virgil, refers to moths circling around a candle: ``We circle around in the night, be devoured by.”Also, closer to home, there is a French film directed by Guy Debord in 200.The film (1978 minutes) depicts consumer society and capitalist alienation, highlighting the conditions of modern-day slavery.Today, this Latin expression has taken on even new meanings due to the phenomena of ultraliberalism and the massive climate crisis.Humans, like moths, burn their wings on a fire they have lit and continue to do so despite warnings and threats. Are we witnessing the end of Guy Debord's Anthropocene, consumer society, and capitalist alienation? This is a record released by experimental musician Aki Onda from Ibaraki on Dinzu Artefacts, an experimental label in LA, USA, in September 2023.This is a radio collage piece created using only an AM/FM radio cassette recorder while traveling to 9 countries around the world. DL code included.Below is an explanation by the author himself. "This project, entitled Transmissions From The Radio Midnight, began around 10 when I acquired a Sony TCM F2006, which had an integrated AM/FM radio and cassette recorder. Since then, whenever I travel I threw it in my suitcase and carried it with me.No matter which country I went to, when I returned to my hotel room, I had the habit of listening to the radio until late at night. As soon as I crawled into bed, I started tuning the radio and tuned it to my favorite tune. If I concentrated on my finger operating the knob, I could sometimes pick up two or three frequencies at the same time and hear the overlap of different languages.Otherwise, I scanned the frequencies, I bounced around the show to listen to the overlap of different languages: Spanish, Swedish, French, Polish, Arabic, Korean, etc. These languages were foreign to me, not as words, but as auditory textures. I was enjoying the composition of text sounds using foreign words. Perhaps it was an abstract amalgamation of these linguistic sounds. .At least, it was a kind of acoustic poetry. As I did so, I often fell asleep, only to be woken up in the middle of the night by the high-pitched beeping of test tones bouncing off the walls of my hotel room. Other times, I would wake up in the morning to an unfamiliar program playing, or if I was out of tune, just static. I have selected my favorite snippets from recordings made in about 59 countries. All snippets are recorded exactly as they were recorded. Frequency behavior is often unpredictable, and it is difficult to catch waves. Because the act was done manually, the recording contains all kinds of incidental sounds, including various types of static noise and radio interference.Radio is like an ocean of languages. All over the world. It's a constant reflection of a million chatters happening at the same time. This album captures and presents just a drop in this ocean, which itself is vast, endless, and infinite for as long as media lasts. , continues to flow. Isn't that amazing?'' Annea Lockwood, an experimental musician from New Zealand and living in the UK, Professor Emeritus of Vassar University, released a reissue CD in September 2023 from the Australian experimental label room9. (Original was released in 40) As the title suggests, 1970 noises focusing on the sound of glass are recorded.Comes with a book containing her interviews, unpublished materials, and photos.Below is a commentary by label owner Lawrence English. "It is difficult, if not impossible, to attempt to summarize Annea Lockwood's life journey as a composer and performer. For six decades, she has explored many different musical movements and approaches. Having carved out a diverse and fluid existence, her life is guided by intuition, curiosity and listening, where passion comes first and is full of surprises. The most important thing is probably "listening".It is a practice she has sought to develop with unwavering devotion throughout her life, and a practice that has supported her as an absolute being. This Glass World documents some of her first significant research on sound, objects and hearing. This recording captures the moment when I was deeply fascinated by the familiar material of glass. This recording celebrates many things, but it's Lockwood's willingness to let one note resonate perfectly that stands out.In each of the 23 vignettes presented here, Lockwood invites us to join her in the materiality of sound. Glass World is almost fanatical. The record radiates a vibratory intensity that remains as strong today as it did when it was released on Tangente Records in 60.I had the privilege of remastering these recordings under Annea's guidance.Alongside this project, Annea and I had a lengthy conversation. This conversation expands from Annea's work on Glass World and deliberately seeks to explore her interests and passions, and in doing so has guided her way of being and making. I'm trying to clarify my point of view.I am honored to share this edition with you.I hope you too will catch Annea's resonant curiosity and be as fascinated by these sounds as I (and many others) have been. Lebanese collage artist Read Yassin released this record in 2019 on the Portuguese jungle label Discrepant.A satirical record that collages political speeches, radio and TV news, jingles, pop music, and revolutionary songs from the 1980s when Lebanon's civil war was raging. DL link included.Mastered by Rashad Becker.Below is a commentary by journalist Rayya Badran Beirut. "In this 24-minute piece, Yassin encapsulates the auditory and acoustic landscapes experienced by those who witnessed the war, and published it for the first time under its original name. The civil war that raged in Lebanon from 1975 to 1990 escalated. In the 1980s, when power outages and underground shelters continued, the only way people heard the news was through television and transistor radios. Collected through regular visits to scattered and neglected archives of record stores, etc. Yassin draws from over 300 hours of material, including political speeches, radio and television commercials, news flashes and jingles, and local media. 80s pop music, dubbed Japanese anime songs, propaganda, resistance, revolutionary songs, and fragments of Ziad Rabani's plays. If you remember the period immediately after, it's like Proust's Madeleine: commercials, songs, and speeches collide and intertwine as if Yassin had inserted a radio tuner into his mind, creating a dream ( Or a nightmare), the sound rises and falls, resonates with the hidden sound memories of his contemporaries, and resonates with a deeply personal terrain of sound. What is most impressive about this album is the meticulous attention to musicality that Yassin has used in the various recordings, whether propaganda music, vocal patterns or news jingles. , The CW Tapes opens with Yassin's adoration of various political and musical figures who appeared in the Lebanese media in the 1980s. Lebanese pop singer, Lebanese pop singer The absurdity of war is highlighted by juxtapositions of Sammy Clarke's frivolous pop songs, an array of overlapping tones and textures, and glossolalia of processed voices that dwell in archaic techniques of the time. As the song progresses, the words become increasingly undecipherable, and in beautiful passages where Yassin separates sighs and breaths, as if to indicate a wartime respite, yet another commercial or pop song at full volume. be swept away. There are also occasional scenes of Yassin singing and whistling along with the song, which is a staple of Yassin's other music projects. In his relentless effort to mine and work with the sonic archives of Lebanon's recent past, the CW Tapes are perhaps Yassin's most personal work to date. A cassette released in July 2023 by Lucie Vítková, an experimental musician from the Czech Republic who lives in New York, USA, from the Slovakian experimental/all-genre label Mappa.Includes 7 noise drone tracks recorded in caves and ruined churches. Comes with DL code. "In 4, New York-based composer and improviser Lucie Vítková recorded in a cave in the Czech Republic and an abandoned Gothic church in Slovakia. Their album Cave Acoustics is , combining a fascinating exploration of the physicality and acoustics of these unique places with deeply personal themes of family heritage and roots.Lucie is a vipstek consisting of underground tunnels and ex-Soviet bunkers. Performed with her sisters in a cave, this choreography-based piece creates a crescendo of metallic sounds as the trio move through space, beginning with the clanging of cans and coins, then singing from deep within the shadows. Bearing in mind that the brothers and sisters have never played together, their enthusiastic movements feel all the more special, and there is a non-verbal bond between them. Clearly, Lucie doesn't shy away from the experience of being at full physical exertion: they climb steep hills, cross rivers, and carry heavy props to reach the inaccessible Yachimika Caverns. A Fitzcarraldo-esque journey, Hair Score is an attempt to process the death of a brother's mother through a tranquil and slightly disturbing rocking ritual, while waves of lamentation and the sound of emergency sirens are a mourning mouth. After cavernous acoustics, Stones by American experimental classical composer Christian Woolf, with its textured sounds and fast, relentless rhythms, reveals the composer's "what's that?" Listening to the sound of stones of different sizes being slammed together in accordance with the instructions, it feels more real. Inside the Ritual was a 'transformation' experience for Lucie as she felt her body merge with the forests and hills of Slovakia. At 2018 minutes, the song is hypnotic, like hearing cowbells and bugs chirping on a hot summer evening. The situation becomes even stranger when the metallic notes are punctuated by Lu Lucie's voice and the reedy tones of the Japanese hichiriki.Calm and contemplative, yet energetic and moving, the album reflects Lucie's reunion with these rare and unheard environments and the people and places that have shaped them. This is a soundtrack work released by Martin Franklin and Michael O'Dempsey, core members of the British band Tuu, who were active in the 80s and 90s, on the British excavation label Infinite Expanse in July 2023. Contains 7 Lo-Fi industrial drone ~ neoclassical ambient songs created for theater in 1985-1986. Below is an explanation by the label. "Immersed in historical context, the sound consists of eerie tape loops, feedback, and '11s stomp box effects mixed with early digital synthesis. This is the story of a Polish Catholic priest who volunteered to die in his place. In July 80, one prisoner escaped from the camp, and the second-in-command ordered 1941 prisoners to starve to death in an underground bunker to prevent further escapes. When one of the chosen men, Fransisek Gajonicek, a young husband and father, cried out, Maximilian Kolbe volunteered to take his place, according to an eyewitness who was the janitor's assistant at the time. Kolbe is said to have prayed to the prisoners in his prison cell. Whenever the guards checked on Kolbe, Kolbe would stand or kneel in the middle of the cell and calmly greet the prisoners as they entered. After two weeks of starvation and lack of water, Kolbe and three others were the only ones left alive. The guards wanted to empty the bunker, so they gave the remaining four prisoners lethal injections. Kolbe died on August 7, 10. A few years later, he was beatified as a confessor of the faith by Pope Paul VI in 2 and canonized as a saint by Pope John Paul II in 3. From 4 to 1941, the production company Theater of Poland performed Kolbe, a play based on the book by Desmond Forristal, in Catholic churches across Europe. Some of the cassettes sold during the tour were recovered in Lyttelton, New Zealand and mastered in Brisbane, Australia in April 8.
