This is a 2024-CD set released by Carmen Moore, a famous American and New York composer, from the New York experimental/jazz label Reading Group in May 5.

This is a collection of sketch-like works that he recorded at home between 2002 and 2023. Comes with liner notes.

Below is an explanation by the author himself.

"SOUL MUSINGS is a series of mostly meditative excitement that I improvised over several years on piano and Ensonic keyboard. Many of them become orchestral, choral, or solo vocal songs without lyrics. It's a short piece that started out with grand intentions, including excerpts from the meditative album Meditations and Dances to the Millennium, which will one day be released as Love Notes to Central Park. Some were improvised for special friends in need. Most were in response to the call of the Tao, especially Afro-Latin meditations. Many of them were born out of Latin sounds, rhythms, and hearts. In any case, some of them were born out of my creation of the children's opera "RASUR" in Costa Rica in 2002. I love these works and hope they serve as a means of spiritual and spiritual transportation for everyone who listens to them.

Reading Groups:

"Reading Group is thrilled to present our second collaboration with the magisterial composer Carman Moore. Following the 2020 release of his gorgeous chamber soundtrack to the film "Personal Problems" (1980), "Soul Musings" is a double-CD representing Carman's innerly composerly life of the last several decades. Consisting mostly of sketched ideas, meditations, and improvisations on synthesizer or piano, this record is both an intimate portrait of the artist at home as well as spiritual gift. Disc 1, "Soul Musings," spans a broad range of sonic palettes and moods from the celebratory to the mournful, with a deep inquisitive presence of mind at work throughout. Disc 2, "Afro-Latin Meditations," builds from the New York-inspired musical environments Moore developed in "Personal Problems," " a heartfelt dedication to the city where he has been composing and listening for more than 50 years."
