Side A Heygate is constructed from materials collected at the Heygate estate in the Elephant & Castle district of South London. Completed in 1974, the housing complex is a remnant of the city's vigorous housing construction plans in the late 60's and early 70's, and will soon be demolished.The sounds, collected by contact microphones, receivers, and telephone pick-up coils, are intended to present a cipher of the housing complex's acoustic environment.
