Robin Fox, an Australian acoustic artist who has published in the past from Editions Mego and others. Is a cassette released in December 2021 from the label Room12, which is presided over by the acoustic writer Lawrence English in Melbourne.Includes two modular drone songs. The following is a commentary by the writer himself.

Everyone seems to live their own apocalypse. That is inevitable.

It incorporates the inevitable feeling that the end of the world, as we know it, is just around the corner while we live on Earth. It is part and part of what each unit of human consciousness believes it is at the center of everything. When I try to avoid catastrophic thoughts, a sense of fear and anxiety creeps in and is now in my heart, which is also reflected in this work.

The two tracks in this release are linear takes recorded on my studio's Eurorack modular system. The two songs were recorded on different days and in different patches, but they seem to be related. Both sessions began with the desire to patiently explore the harmonic series and create something vast.At that time, two magnificent works were born that expressed the sadness and disconnection that struck the city and my heart.

Listen to these tracks when the light is changing. At dawn, dusk, or the moment when the sun emerges from behind dark clouds, on the borderline. While Threnody is lamenting, there is hope for the growing harmony phrase. From this era, we have the feeling that it may be better than before. We have to be better than before.everytime.

Artist statement by Robin Fox:

"Everybody, it seems, lives their own personal apocalypse. It's inevitable.

Built into the arc of our mortal time on earth is the inescapable feeling that we live right on the edge of the end of the world as we know it. It is all part and parcel of each unit of human consciousness assuming it is the center of everything. Try as I might to avoid catastrophic thinking there is a creeping sense of dread and unease making its way into my mind right now and it made it's way into these pieces too.

Both tracks on this release are linear takes recorded on my studio eurorack modular system. They are different patches on different days --but they feel related. Both sessions started with a desire to explore the harmonic series with patience and make something vast. What emerged where two epic pieces that seemed to tap into a sadness and disconnection that was gripping the city and my mind at that time.

Listen to these tracks at a time when the light is changing. The liminal times of dawn and dusk or that moment when the sun emerges from behind a bank of dark clouds. While a threnody is a lament there is hope in the rising harmonic phrases too A sense that we may yet emerge from this period better than we were. We must be better than we were. Always. "
