  • Availability:

German noise artist Angelo Harmsworth and American synth player Dominic Coppola, who have released on Strange Rules, Unifactor, and Phinery in the past, collaborated on a record released in October 2022 on Berlin's experimental/noise label Total Black. is.

Includes 7 ambient noise drone songs. DL code included.

Below is an explanation by John Elliott.

Pavonine is the second release from the collaborative duo of Dominic Coppola and Angelo Harmsworth, following 2017's 'Cordial' on Strange Rules. This work was conceived at the end of 2 and completed in the spring of 2020, so I don't think I need to explain any more about the recording and living environment.

The duo unfolds a series of minimalist constructions where spans are stabilized and concepts are measured. Each track focuses on contradictory elements with precision and plays strangely together like a widescreen hypnotic mural. The album winds along a large canvas that traverses the full range of the frequency spectrum with patterned layers of stillness and atmospherics.

Pavonine is at its best in minimalism, with duality like a calm cloud-filled sky above a wind- and wave-swaying sea. The track has tones and textures reminiscent of Kevin Drumm's "Sheer Hellish Miasma," and the haunted voidgazer of Yellow Swans. But "Pavonine" occupies a space of its own, dominating and refining new modern sounds in reinvigorated and unusual forms.

Text by John Elliott via the label:

"'Pavonine' is the second offering from the collaborative duo of Dominic Coppola and Angelo Harmsworth, following the 2017 "Cordial" release on Strange Rules. to recording and living conditions.

The duo deploys an array of minimalist structures, steady in span and measured in concept. Each track is executed with a precision focus on antithetical components which curiously coalesce into widescreen hypnotic murals. The album unwinds across large canvases which traverses the full range of the frequency spectrum with patterned layers of static and atmospherics.

"Pavonine" is maximal in its minimalism, a duality like a calm cloud filled sky above an ocean ruffled with wind and waves. The tracks contain elements of Kevin Drumms "Sheer Hellish Miasma", reminiscent of its masterful timbre and texture, while at times also recalling the haunted void-gazing of the Yellow Swans. However, "Pavonine" occupies its own space, reigning and refining a new, modern sound which is reinvigorating and rare in form."
