This is the debut CD by Danish ambient jazz trio Mesmer, released on the country's experimental label Arbitrary in November 2023.Contains 11 post-new age ambient jazz songs. Includes DL code and risograph print map and text.Below is an explanation by the label. "This album is a series of (deconstructed) live recordings from three live concerts. The sounds on this album were inspired by a field trip to the outskirts of Copenhagen from two years ago. Born from sound research and creative outbursts, we are intrigued by the aural landscapes of places where nature and culture meet and challenge each other.By listening to field recordings, MESMER has captured the sounds of these regions. MESMER came to interpret the mood, musicality and inherent energy of the music, thus creating the melodies, harmonies and rhythmic structures that, together with field recordings, paved the way for this album. Consisting of three musicians and composers: , Anders Philipsen, who have been creating music together in various groups for the past 11 years, MESMER explores how sound (and its absence) affects us as humans. I'm fascinated by how different natural and cultural environments create different musical scenarios.I hope you enjoy this album and can enjoy music wherever you are while welcoming the sounds already present in your environment. German experimental musician Boris Baltschun released this record in June 2023 on the Danish experimental label Arbitrary.Contains pseudo-field recordings constructed using modular equipment and two radio plays using spoken words. Comes with DL code.Below is an explanation by the label. "'Desert Dictionary' navigates a realm of sound that oscillates between language and landscape, sheet music and noise.A voice that connects personal memories, political considerations, and psychological influences of seemingly empty and still landscapes, responding to and contributing to complementary narratives.A modular synthesizer score based on field notes is adjacent, underlying and intertwined. The synthesized soundscape looks like an imaginary field recording and at the same time resembles and dislikes the location in question. The 6 tracks on the LP were recorded in South Africa over a three-month period in 2 and 12.These recordings were made at various locations in Kimberley, Bloemfontein, Richmond/Northern Cape, Cape Town, Grassy Park, Krugersdorp and Johannesburg. This "Desert Dictionary" has four variations: a situation as part of the South African Modern Art Project collection, a radio play (commissioned by Deutschlandfunk Kultur), a book version (MAPSA Publishing), and this LP. be. The LP is based on a radio play by Richard John Forbes, Maya Marx, Fara Okedice Fara, Victoria Wigsel, Tubatsi Mpokkmoroy, Liza Grobler, Nkocinati Gmede, Karlien van Loen, It includes the voices of Mongezi Nkombo, Ivan Messerer, Gerhard Marx and Lindiwe Matsushikiza.Synthesized field recordings (translations of field notes taken in the desert) were recorded in Johannesburg and Berlin.
