Eric Andersen // Margrethe Fjorden CD + BLU RAY BOX SET

A BluRay + CD + booklet box set released in April 2023 from Danish experimental label Recital by Danish Fluxus artist/intermedia art guru Eric Andersen.

A 1996-hour, 4.5-minute CD recording of his experimental event involving the entire city in 60. Includes 36-page booklet and DL code. 

Below is a commentary by the label.

"Recital presents the first film version of 'Margrethe Fjorden'. Produced by Fluxus artist Eric Andersen in 1996, this intermedia event Alice Damas, Willem de Ridder, Larry MillerArtists from all over the world, including , performed, and the whole city was involved.Inspired by the mystical story of the first Queen Margrethe (1353-1412), this multi-sensory event is organized around three main themes: UNION, WOMAN and FAITH.

Over 4 hours of footage will be presented, from a full organ concert at Roskilde Cathedral with models of stilts and toy frogs flying around, to the "Air Ballet" of helicopters flying over the water at night.The whole city became the stage for the three nightly performances.Immersive handheld footage flows through circus-like events, navigating the streets and spilling out during events.The quality is like a surreal home movie.

The original press release reads: "MARGRETHE FJORDEN is everything near and far, quiet and violent. Smells, gets wet and burns, sometimes alien and disturbing." Yes, but it can also be reassuring and humorous: live sheep, births, car crashes, window cleaners, wheelchairs, people trekking, people unite and part, and the audience is different. It's a world of ideas that enter reality..."

Also on BluRay are the complete Erik Andersen organ concert performed by Yuzuru Hiranaka, "A piacere (Fog Drifts Across the Meadow)" by Eve Neholm and Erik Andersen (a choir of over 100 people in the Roskilde fjord). Over 4 hours of video is presented, from a full organ concert held in the Roskilde Cathedral, replete with models on stilts and toy frogs hopping through the pews, to a helicopter “air ballet” dancing over the water at night. the stage for the three performance evenings. The immersive handheld footage flows between the circus-like events, navigating the streets, spilling between events. A surreal home-movie quality.
