American influential experimental musician Alvin Lucier released this CD in January 2023 from Mode in NY.Includes 1 minimal drone songs by pipe organ.Digipak, shrink specification.Below is an explanation by the label.

This release features two works by Alvin Lucier centered around the pipe organ, the instrument of choice for Lucier's composing practice.

Both are first recordings.

'Swing Bridge' was commissioned by the Australian Art Orchestra, the ensemble on this record, for the Melbourne Town Hall Grand Organ. The score calls for removing certain pipes from the organ and running them through three specially constructed offset chests, each holding two pipes (six pitches total). These pipes are operated by three or more players called "pipe wavers".

The music explores the phenomenon of the organ making its operation performative and visceral. You can hear how the energy produced by the organ "sounds" the space in which it was played and recorded. I was able to experience the physicality of the air moving inside. This is a conceptual work of the highest order, but it is also sensual, beautiful, and immersive, with the pulsation of the organ and the resonance of the room interwoven with the texture of the ensemble.

The organ and pipe swinging are joined by an ensemble that produces long tones that are microtonically related to the organ.

In Sizzles the composer writes: “Drums of various sizes are randomly placed around the playing space. The drumheads are sprinkled with fine substances such as lentils, chickpeas and candy hearts. The drum skin resonates and vibrates, the drum sounds and the material moves. Each drum is individually amplified with a contact or air mic and a separate amplifier.

Alvin Lucier made the final selection of the version of "Sizzles" featured on this release.
