This is a cassette released by Pisitakun, a political electronic artist from Bangkok, Thailand, from Chinabot, a British label specializing in Asian artists, in November 2023.Contains 11 psychedelic strange beats - post-new age exotica songs.Out of print. *If you would like a digital sound source, please feel free to contact us. Below is an explanation by the label. " says Pisitakun, recalling the local festivals that bring together small towns in his native Thailand. After moving from Bangkok to Porto in 8 and eventually settling in Berlin, his new album, released on Chinabot, A wild, dizzying, homesick piece of work that travels through Thailand. Kuantalaeng, Chinabot's third solo release, is based on his last name [ควรแถลง ], translated into Thai. As reflected in the playful tracklist and album art, he imagines this album as a recreation of his homeland, showing a wistful longing as he explores his new home in Europe. He secretly pokes fun at the commonly understood naive vision of Thailand. ``The image of Thailand is food and travel.'' There are Thai restaurants everywhere in Europe, presenting an image of Thailand. But what's on my mind is politics.'' Thailand's strong tourism industry It also works to obscure the harsh political reality that these days, democratically elected parties are blocked from governing in the Senate by allies of the monarchy and the military. Kuantalaeng attempts to balance these perceptions, celebrating Thailand's regional culture while confronting its never-ending political issues head-on.With food stalls, religious ceremonies, huge colorful trucks blasting traditional แตรวง (a type of brass band) and รถแห่ (rod har) music to the accompaniment of dancers, this album captures the merrymaking of local and suburban festivals. It captures the spirit.Opening song Khao Soi, named after the bright orange spicy soup, captures the sensory overload of such celebrations, while at the same time highlighting the dark and twisted currents that lie beneath: It captures a political reality that cannot be fully expressed. As with much of this album, the pressure to stay quiet and the pressure to make a statement collide into a noisy palimpsest of pole rabbit, techno, and experimental noise. The spooky party continues on Gaeng Som, where intricate, bouncy electronics dance around a speaker-fried luk tun beat.By contrast, the meditative track "Pad Siew" samples the pimon, a traditional Thai reed instrument, with a plaintive, winding call that sounds like wood smoke over a soft guitar. Float. “What reminds me most of Thailand is the food and the sounds,” Kuantalen says.Food and sound participate in many rituals.Food and sound bring people together and make them feel like they're back home.'' This is a co-produced cassette released by Chinese-British audio artist Kepla from Chinabot, a British label specializing in Asian artists, in September 2023. Contains four songs recorded in a ruined chapel: free jazz, organ drone, and ghost contemporary. *If you would like a digital sound source, please feel free to contact us. Below is an explanation by the label. Recorded during a heat wave in an abandoned chapel and composed through a slow, sporadic process, Kepla's new album In Furnace captures the eerie feeling of living at the end of the world. There is. With John Davis' multi-instrumental approach, joined by a broken church organ, and drawing us into a place of suffocating heat despite the stone cold, this album is about lost places. I am thinking about it and gathering new meanings. In July 9, John organized a week-long residency at Capel-y-Graig, a chapel-turned-art space in the Welsh village of Furness. There, he experimented with field recordings, experimented with cello and piano, studied the Suna, a traditional double reed instrument popular in China, and collected recordings for resampling. After the residency, it became clear that instead of reworking the recordings, preserving the unique reverberations of the chapel, its surroundings, and the extreme climate would be the focus of the album. These contested objects, such as chapels no longer functioning for organized religion and musical instruments separated from their ceremonial functions, are becoming increasingly important as ecological collapse is no longer a distant future. It exists in the current era. The idea for ``In Furnace'' was based on the 4 film ``A City of Sadness'' directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien, which depicts the ``Feb. 2021 Incident'' in which an anti-government uprising that occurred in Taiwan in 7 was brutally suppressed. After seeing his first major work), he immediately acquired a Suna and began learning to play it [...]. "I'm trying to give a certain sensibility to a lot of stories that touch on my own but feel alienated from." "As an artist, these cultures are now becoming more distant," says John. “The Suna (hopefully) is not just an instrument for playing music, but a revitalized craft for reacquainting ourselves with what has been lost. , a space that demands to be activated by sound, powered by an organ with only one fully functioning lung. In Furnace explores the ever more common sense of cultural and ecological collapse. It brings together emotional emotions into a textured elegy that touches the heart."
