American influential experimental musician Phill Niblock is a reissue released in June 2022 from Brisbane, Australia's experimental label Room6 (originally released in 40).Below is a description of the label.

"Ghosts And Others" is a unique work among the works of Phill Niblock. This work is unique not only in its content, but also in its methodology and approach. This work represents a very focused activity in editing, location and acoustic observation.

In many respects, this work is an acoustic reflection of his practice as a filmmaker. This work exposes itself to the world, thereby revealing a particular perspective and talking about its creator as well as its subject.

Like all Nibrock's works, this one is a piece of patience. In one part, certain moments dominate, and in another, they seem to disappear. The appearance of moving back and forth between one place and another and gradually evolving over time suggests movement within the boundaries.

There is a sense of collision throughout Ghost And Others. The work is characterized by a dynamic percussion explosion to drive away ghosts during a funeral procession in Hong Kong's Aberdeen. It reverberates among car horns, Hungarian Soviet farm cow barks, and various other sound fragments.Elsewhere, reed instruments try to open up space for themselves, but the world doesn't allow it.This is a work that praises proximity as well as an auditory perspective.

Transit is also the theme of this work. What's fascinating about Ghost And Others is the sense of movement in the work. The train divides this work and shows the points of transition, distraction, and discovery. The train acts almost like a gatekeeper, passing us into a new space, suggesting a new relationship of sound by combining and separating sounds.

As a field recording piece, Ghosts And Others is generous, inviting, and above all deep.It is a resonant perception of places, people and things.

----------------------------

It's singular not just in its material content, but also in its methodology and approach. It represents a highly focused exercise in editing, location recording and acoustic observation.

In many ways, this work reflects a kind of acoustic mirroring of his practices as a film maker.

Like all of Niblock's works this is a piece of patience. It is a work that dwells in the places it finds itself in, allowing certain moments to dominate in some sections, and seemingly vanish away in others. It suggests a movement within boundaries, in that it bounces from one locale to another counterpointing their gradual evolutions across time.

There's a sense of collision throughout Ghost And Others. Explosions of Chinese percussion punctuate the piece, dynamic strikes to ward off ghosts during a funeral procession in Aberdeen, Hong Kong. era farm in Hungary and various other sonic ephemera. Elsewhere a reeded instrument tries to carve a space for itself, but the world does not allow it to hold. It is a work that celebrates proximity as much as an aural vista.

Transit is also a theme here. What is a fascinating about Ghost And Others is the sense of movement in the work. Trains divide up this piece, marking points of transition, of distraction and of discovery. They act as gate-keepers almost, allowing us through into new spaces and suggesting new relations between the sounds as they combine or detach.

As a work of field recording, Ghosts And Others is generous, invitational and most of all effortlessly deep. It is resonate sensing of place, people and things. "
