After working in Italy's 90's straight-edge hardcore scene, Claudio Rocchetti, who has stepped into the sound scene and released works on labels such as Die Schachtel and second sleep, released a limited edition of 2017 copies from the country's experimental label Kohlhaas in 300. is.

Includes 32 fragments reconstructed by chopping up material sampled from the Goldberg Variations, as if embodying a jacket image. DL code included.

"Through a usual variety of techniques, Rocchetti extends now his deconstructive approach and his ongoing reflection on the shaping of time and memory to the territory that lies between composition and performance, bringing us his interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Goldberg Variations: such an outstanding monstrum- work, regarding which many — no need to recall Thomas Bernhard's Der Untergeher — would end up switching from fascination to obsession (and believe us when we say we're familiar with obsessions, as this label is named after a novel that actually is a tale of an obsession). At times rhythmic and at others, open-ended and expressive. Bells, birds, pans, eggs(?!), and more are sourced for this lively, flowing journey. While most tapework and sound collage leans heavy on larger sound pairings, ambient tone, and contrasting textures, the Concept Horse is intent to focus our attention on crisp, uncrowded samples. We're wandering this hallway of collected audio but the size of each \"picture\" allows us to keep a moderate pace. Trumpeter swans are joined by a trumpeter human; Chayka Chekhov responds to the avian songs in a interspecies dialogue – echoing Jim Nollman’s “Playing Music With Animals”.
