We have received works by Nick Keeling, a solitary pianist from Ohio, USA, which have only been released independently so far.

This work is an impromptu collaboration work with violinist Andrea Gutmann Fuentes, which he released in 2019. DL code included.

A characteristic of his work is the method of recording piano directly onto a multi-track recorder, and the sepia-toned melodies create a sense of nostalgia.

*There may be scratches due to the recycled case and tape specifications.

Andrea Gutmann Fuentes & Nick Keeling recorded this improvisation while observing the 1983 Gregor MacDonald photo of Utopia, Ohio.

Utopia is now an unincorporated community along the Ohio River at the bottom of Clermont County, Ohio. Multiple Utopian societies were founded on this land in the mid 19th century, with one coming to a tragic end following a deadly flood. Stand strong in this small hamlet.

The photograph is from Gregor MacDonald. He states "Just some background: the photo was taken in 1983, and features students from Denison University who were studying utopian and alternative communities of the 19th century. The professor in the photo is Tony Stoneburner, now deceased We traveled around Ohio and Kentucky, visiting such places as Zoar, Ohio and Round Hill (Shaker) in Kentucky. " --Nick Keeling
