Revok by Coagulant

Revok is a work of transduction and transmutation of the multiple processes of sound and its environmental sound variables within encounters with unfamiliar states of consciousness. Following the channeling transmissions, where primitive and futuristic atmospheres expand into the areas of the dreamtime; chasing the intuitive phenomena of The psychonaut to access Revok: we can cross the outer-space and reach other new and initially cold blurred dimensions. Lying on the edge of the elements of cosmic matter, communicating with other organisms and other life forms. Our being cyclic (K) is reproduced with images of other entities within space-time soundscapes, which can be populated, explored, colonized by our experience.

This routine – a held tone then fake dialing - the phone goes through if you’ve picked it up but not made a call. An attempt to get your attention perhaps. This is a cassette independently released in March 2024 by experimental musicians Beachers from London, England. "The only sound on 'Off the hook' is the phone at my day job. Late at night, after everyone had gone home, I was finishing something, and the sound came from everywhere. It cut the air for a moment. Then it suddenly stopped. Then I heard a series of beeps, like someone was dialing. I was surprised at first, but then I saw the papers on my work desk. While you're at it, you realize you've taken your phone off the hook.This routine of a hold tone followed by a fake dial doesn't work when you pick up the phone. Maybe trying to get attention, maybe to fill an awkward silence, I took the phone off the hook and put it back on, recording it in and out of my office in central London. The same routine was recorded, with additional noise added, and the recording was cut, moved, and processed to create the eight tracks of Off the Hook, but nothing else was done. I haven't added anything. It's mostly delays and pitch shifts. The last track is a full playback of the original phone call. It feels appropriate to me, the phone call itself, the situation, and the location. There's something. But I'm not sure what it said.
