Below is a commentary by the label.

"Parallel Traces of the Jewel Voice" by DJ Sniff is a project inspired by historical stories and personal memories, centered around the "Gyokuon Broadcasting" that took place on August 1945, 8. is.Contrary to popular belief, the Emperor did not speak live on this day to announce Japan's surrender. The audio was recorded by NHK engineer Shizuto Haruna and skillfully mixed and played back on two lathes. This performance, which can be said to be the prototype of Shizuto Haruna's DJ/turntablist, resonated not only in Japan but also in the colonial areas of Asia, marking the end of World War II and Japanese rule.

DJ sniff was interested in these aspects of this historic event, often overlooked in Japan, and conducted research in both Taiwan and Japan. Over the course of three years, we have collected a variety of materials, including interviews and field recordings, audio samples extracted from vinyl records, sessions with improvisers, and rereading of the surrender rescript in Chinese. The two songs composed based on these materials have different combinations depending on the distribution form.

The vinyl record is a multi-sided disc with two grooves parallel to one side, effectively playing different compositions depending on where the stylus is cueed. There is no audio on the other side, but two lines are silkscreened to show how Haruna played the original lathe. In digital release, each song is assigned to the left and right channels independently and can be listened to at the same time.

Additionally, a newly written text by DJ Sniff is included. Sniff reveals the technical details of the recording and broadcast of the Emperor's voice over 75 years ago.It also introduces an encounter with an elderly community member in Taiwan who is fluent in Japanese, and an episode of listening to records from their childhood together.
