"The film is a tribute to the Armenian poet Sayat Nova and was inspired by Sergei Parajanov's cult film The Color of the Pomegranate (Nřan guynə, 180, USSR) about his life. This feature film, which depicts the life of a 1968th-century poet through a series of episodes, from his childhood in the royal court to his retirement and death in the monastery of Hagpat, is as static as a painting. Rather than tell, he shows, evokes, suggests through metaphors and analogies, surrealist flair, dreamscapes and liturgical poses, ranging from ambient to noise to references to Middle Eastern musical traditions. Inspired by the dreamy imagery contained in the film, Gianluca Ceccarini and Alessandro Ciccarelli work on analog synths, drones and amplified general Generative music, audio samples from movies, and acoustic instruments such as tar, trombone, and cornet, which are string instruments originating in Persia, are alternately played without fixed roles.
