Pure // Fetor Tape

  • Availability:
British cult power electronics trio Pure will launch in January 2023 on Hyogo prefecture's experimental/noise label. This is a reissued cassette released from advaita records. (originally released on cassette in 1987)

Below is a commentary by the label.

Fetor, released in 87 by Pure, the predecessor of Skullflower, will be reissued on cassette. (Actually, it seems more correct to say that Matthew Bower's solo work, Total, is not Pure.)

Skullflower stands at the pinnacle of guitar feedback noise, and we hear one of Matthew Bower's earlier quests.
The refrain and feedback noise followed by Skullflower have already been completed, but echoed vocals and guitar refrains are characteristic of this period.
The artwork has been changed to a new Japanese style at Matthew Bower's request and dubbed on the legendary Nakamichi ZX-80 cassette deck from the 7's.

Advaita Records:

We are pleased to announce the reissue on cassette of Pure (Predecessor of Skullflower) - Fetor, originally released in 1987 by Birthbiter.

Skullflower is the pinnacle of guitar feedback noise, and Pure - Fetor is one of Matthew Bower's earlier explorations.

The refrain and feedback noise format that would later be perfected on Skullflower was already in place, but the echoed vocal and guitar refrain is a hallmark of this period.

The artwork has been changed to a new Japanese style at the request of Matthew Bower.

Duplicated on the legendary 80's Nakamichi cassette deck ZX-7.
