My battles with gender, known only to me at the time, were also kept completely away from the light, but were beginning to take a heavy toll on my health. Feeling far removed from reality and even my own body, I felt extremely isolated and disconnected. In this dark place I found a lot of inner peace and strength in watching the repetitive cycles of the tide, soaking up every sound, every movement, every feeling and, eventually, reconnecting to myself in a way I never had before. Through this album I discovered the importance of repetitive sound in giving space and structure to my autism.
