”Call Back Carousel is an audio time travelogue, a mind's eye slideshow that projects Kodachrome memories directly into the listener's mind through sound alone. It's a way to travel without leaving your home. Your imagination. An immersive vacation or pure audio escape that inspires.
Each episode is based on tape recordings of pre-recorded slideshow commentary.Most of these tapes were made by amateur recording enthusiasts and hobby photographers in the 60's and 70's.Their recorded commentary must have once been accompanied by a sequence of 35mm slides, but now only the voices recorded on tape remain.The recording itselfIt draws on an archive of reel-to-reel tapes that Vernon has collected over the past two decades.
Building on these slideshow narratives, a series of musical soundscapes will bring absent images to life and activate the listener's imagination in the classic tradition of 'film for the ear'. made toIt's like looking at a family photobook with all the photos removed, leaving only the handwritten captions and the corners of the mount.A projector rattles and shuffles through the various slides, and the tour guide's ephemeral voice accompanies you on a time-splitting sonic journey. ”

The evocative rattle and clack of the projector shuffles through different slides as the fragile voices of our tour guides accompany us on a sonic journey that fractures time - and through the cracks, the past bleeds through into our present."
