This is a reissue record released by Dutch no-wave artist Plus Instruments on the Dutch experimental label Dead Mind in August 2023. (Originally released in 8)

"He was a member of Nasmak, a band representing the Dutch ultra movement.Truus de Groot started Plus Instruments on her own in 1978.As the project developed, sheFind collaborators as wide-ranging as Michel Waisvisz, Lee Ranaldo and James Sclavunos.Plus Instruments sought freedom, and their live performances were mostly improvised.The sound is minimal but captivating.De Groot isInfluenced by Red Crayola, Suicide, DAF, Wire, Per Ubu, Devo, and the New York no wave scene.She was always experimenting with primitive multitrack recording and all kinds of gadgets.She was always looking for hard, dirty sounds and strange overtones.

He moved to New York at a young age and began immersing himself in the nightlife of the city that never sleeps.Here she found her true creativity, passion and expression.Her club scene was vibrant, but competitive, so this fearless Dutch girl knocked on promoters' doors to book gigs at places like CBGB's, Peppermint Lounge, Underground, and Pyramid. Was. De Groot eventually settled in America but never stopped experimenting with her sound.In recent years, she has reinvented Plus Instruments and taken her group into new territory.

The recording of this LPDe Groot did it at home, and the music is experimental, minimal, industrial, yet playful, and quite different from most of his later work.Eight of the 14 songs are from Truss Plus Instruments, a hard-to-find self-produced debut cassette distributed in 8 by Nigel Jacklin and his legendary fanzine Alien Brains. .The remaining six songs are from the same period (1980-6) and were carefully selected from Kaojo's extensive archive.This anthology is a long-awaited look at the formative years of electronic music's unique female pioneers. "

When the project evolved, she found a wide range of rotating collaborators like Michel Waisvisz, Lee Ranaldo and James Sclavunos. Plus Instruments was about freedom and the live performances were largely improvised. The sound minimal but captivating. The music always came from within, but De Groot was also triggered by bands like Red Crayola, Suicide, DAF , Wire, Per Ubu, Devo and the No Wave scene in NY. The recordings for this LP were made by De Groot at home and the music is experimental, minimal, industrial but also playful, sounding nothing like most of the later material. 14 tracks in total of which 8 are taken from the elusive and impossible to find self-released debut cassette as 'Truss Plus Instruments' which was sparingly distributed by Nigel Jacklin and his legendary Alien Brains fanzine in 1980. The remaining 6 tracks are from the same period (1979-1980) and were carefully selected from the vast archive of De Groot. We are glad to present this anthology that serves as a long overdue testimony to the formative phase of a unique female pioneer of electronic music. "
