"Ever since the advent of digital technology, there has been a kind of struggle, a restless undercurrent in electronic music. A persistent, unresolved tension that has led to many radical developments in the history of the genre. It has always been an incomprehensible relationship between sound produced (and re-produced) and physicality itself, and the virtualized engineering of sonic ecosystems and the sensuousness of resonators in material space. The ultimately virtual form of electronic music has always contrasted beautifully with its sensuous immanence.The transposition of electroacoustic in the digital realm , has given rise to a new layer of surreality that flourishes in a mutual space of sensory and intellectual activation, and a seductive but irreconcilable resistance.

Emanuele Porcinai's work as a WSR has always been at the heart of this contradiction, functionally integrating acoustic instruments (often self-made instruments) into a digital framework, where the virtual and the material complement each other and build upon each other. It is placed in a continuum of non-representational events that allows it to be contained in an aural ghost. In his compositions, digital phenomena acquire a concrete heaviness that disrupts their origins into the surreal, while the tones and artifacts created by physical interaction are shattered, sublimated, Resolidified into emotional simulacra. This allows his music to occupy a protean arrangement of all possible combinations of the solid and the abstract, rather than a single midpoint between two equally spaced opposites.

'Dicasmia', licensed from Stray Signals, is a new chapter in this research. Through months of solitary and obsessive studio work, Emanuele Porcinai ditches his homebrew gimmicks for a more "orthodox" guitar, bass guitar, and cello, unearthing an introspective, ore-like ore. I struck a pose that slowly sucked in the space around me. The tracks that make up this album feel suspended above the event horizon of this double thrust, their densest constituents expanded and pierced by shards of polluted harmonies. There is. The melody forms from a literal cloud of heavy metal smoke, jolts and scrapes forming uneven percussive verses. The layered dissonance eventually reveals musicality and beauty, creating an uplifting sound venture that attempts to exorcise the depression of separation. "

The ultimate virtual morphology of electronic music has always beautifully contrasted with its sensible immanence. The transposition of electro-acoustics in the digital realm has thus generated new strata of surreality and irreconcilable, though captivating, defiance, blooming in an interspace of emotional, sensual and intellectual activation.

Emanuele Porcinai's work as WSR has always sat at the center of this very contradiction, functionally integrating acoustic –often self-built– instruments within digital frameworks and placing them in a continuum of non-representational happenings that allow the virtual and the material to compenetrate and contain each other, into each other's aural ghosts. In his compositions, digital phenomena acquire a sense of concrete gravitas that confound their origins into hyperreality, while the tones and produced by corporeal interactions are pulverized, sublimated and re-solidified into emotive simulacra. This allows his music to occupy not one middle point between two evenly spaced opposites, rather a mutable arrangement of every possible combination of the solid and the abstract.

Licensed by Stray Signals, 'Dicasmia' is a new chapter in this research. Ditching the self-built contraptions for more “canonical” guitars, bass guitars and cellos, Porcinai has, through months of solitary and obsessive studio work, dug himself an introspective mine of aural ore posed to slowly sucking its surrounding space in. The tracks that compose the album feel like suspended on the event horizon of this double thrust, their densest components dilated and pierced by shards of contaminated harmony. Melodies form from clouds of smoke riddled with literal heavy metals while impacts and scrapes form uneven percussive poems. The amassing layers of dissonance eventually favor the emergence of musicality and beauty, making for an eventually uplifting sonic venture that strives to exorcise the melancholy of separation."
