"Sam Scranton is a Chicago-based composer and percussionist. His latest album, Body Pillow, is an aesthetic investment in improvisational immediacy. , collects and accumulates a complex sonic world, leading to immersive and dense environments.To create this work, Sam uses balsa wood resonators recorded with contact microphones, pure data patches, and general Employing a multi-faceted approach that combines classic midi presets, various synthesizers and live percussion, Sam's musicality shines through his loose and organic playing style, creating a sound that is synthetic, unique and at times alien. The palette is fresh in contrast.These songs permeate with a faint and unpredictable quality.The universe of each track is constantly changing, with short pauses in between, and a burst of activity. It's an exhilarating record from the maverick of electronic and percussive music."

Simple and spontaneous forms make way for complex sound worlds to gather and accumulate into immersive and dense environments To make the record, Sam employed a multi-faceted approach, combining contact mic'd balsa wood resonators, pure data patches, general midi presets, a variety of synthesizers, and live percussion. Sam's musicality shines through his loose and organic style of playing, offering a refreshing contrast to the synthetic, unique, and occasionally alien sound palette. There's a woozy, unpredictable quality that permeates these tunes. Each track's own universe is ever-shifting with bursts of activity and a flurry of ideas carefully spaced between moments of pause.
