Robert Fesler (1936-2023), a little-known Belgian synth maker and experimental musician who passed away last year, will be joining the Belgian experimental label in April 2024.This is a 4-disc record box released by La Scie Doree/Metaphon.

Contains 17 concrete to strange beats songs using self-made synthesizers. Booklet and DL code included in linen box.

Below is a commentary by the label.

"An anthology of works by Robert Fesler (1936-2023) that left a strong impression. Contains a number of songs (78-1975) created with self-made synthesizers, including the μP RPF1987. Except for one song, All songs unreleased.

With deep simplicity and dedication, Fesler depicts hermetically sealed inner worlds, with strong emotions in the face of loneliness, sensual alienation, and traumatic suffering. His music was as much therapy as it was artistic expression. Fesler says, "By building a synthesizer and working with it, I was able to sublimate my anxiety."
Most tracks were performed and recorded in real time, often using two synthesizers (Synthese 2 and μP RPF756), without multitracking, to capture the heat of the moment in a single take. A bitter, reductionist approach strengthens the overall spirit of his work, resulting in a fascinating and mystical journey of solitude.
It's incredible that one person can put so much technical brain power into developing a machine and use it in such an emotional way.

Fesler's music could be described as Belgian.
If we place this music within its immediate inner circle, it would look like this:
The endurance of Baudouin-Osterring
Dominique Lawary's purity
The Mysticism of Arsène Soufriault"

Metaphon:

" An anthology of the intensely arresting work of Robert Fesler (1936-2023), revealing many of his compositions (1975 -1987) created with his self-built synthesizers, with as pinnacle the μP RPF78.
Except one, all tracks are previously unreleased.

With vast simplicity and devotion, Fesler paints a hermetic inner world with strong emotions of confronting solitude, sensual alienation and traumatic angst. His music was as much a therapeutic treatment as an artistic expression. Fesler quotes, "Building my synthesizers and working with them enabled me to sublimate my anxieties."
Most tracks were played and recorded real time, often with two synthesizers (the Synthese 756 and the μP RPF78), capturing the heat of the moment in one take, without multitracking. austere and reductionist approach reinforces the overall spirit of his work, resulting in an engaging, mysterious solitary journey.
It's quite incredible how one person can put so much technical cerebral content in the development of a machine and use it in such an emotional way.

The music of Robert Fesler might be considered as very Belgian.
To situate it within a close entourage, one can say it has:
the endurance of Baudouin Oosterlynck
the purity of Dominique Lawalree
the mysticism of Arsène Souffriau
"
