Below is a commentary by the label.

"We are proud to reissue Due Process's first cassette. The original was released on RRR in 1987.

The music is a seamless garment of continuous sustained notes, with a few individual notes picked up, in the style of Due Process's early "number" pieces. There are two aspects of choice, which are of course independent of the audio image, but which are nevertheless strangely appropriate. The members of Due Process say the recording has "no plot, no characters" and hopes to "give joy without meaning anything".They say they are free in politics, the economy, and even themselves. When you look at the recorded material, you can see that this cassette is exquisitely crafted. There are 17 scenes, each requiring 20 cues with 1200 voice changes. The recording speaks for itself.

This is a study of tones ranging from pure black to pure white. There is no color. The play of sound brings to mind an eerily slow-moving circular object reminiscent of a distant moon coming from space, and raises the eternal question of existence. At times, there are scenarios that remind us of the shape of clouds seen from an airplane.Due Process's manufacturing method, which excludes personal taste, has paradoxically produced captivating audio that only they could devise.

We felt that such a historically important reissue should be kept as original. We had it professionally reproduced from the original master tapes without digitizing. This reissue remains completely analog, originating from the master cassette from 37 years ago.I know there are places where you can download stuff like this, but not on No Rent. Our aim is simply to faithfully reproduce the work, so that it can be heard as close to the original as is currently possible. There is no digital. No Rent:

" We are proud to re-issue the first Due Process cassette. Originally released on RRR in 1987.

The music is a seamless garment of continuous sustained sounds, with some individual notes picked out, in the style of Due Process's early “number” pieces. There's a choice of two sides that are independent, of course, from the audio images but nevertheless uncannily appropriate. The members of Due Process said the recording has “no plot, no characters, nothing”, hoping it would “give pleasure without having any meaning whatsoever”. They say it is “free of politics, economics and even of oneself”. The recorded material shows that the cassette was elaborate to make: there are 17 scenes requiring 1,200 cues with 20 audio-changes each – all indicated in charts for the technicians derived from Due Process's usual chance methods. The recording speaks for itself.

These details don't explain the remarkable moving quality of these uniquely pure audio images, studies in timbre ranging from total black to total white. No colors. The play of sound brings up slowly circular objects erily reminiscent of distant moons transmitted from outer space posing the eternal questions of existence. At times the scenario suggests cloud formations viewed from a planeDue Process's formula for removing personal taste have paradoxically produced mesmeric audio that only they could have devised.

We believed such a historically significant re-issue should be maintained in original form. We had it professionally duplicated from the original master tape without digitizing it. This re-issue remains entirely analog, originating from a 37-year-old master cassette. While we know there are places where you can download this stuff, it won't be no rent. Our aim was to faithfully replicate the work so it can be heard as closely as currently possible to the original. No digital.
