"I first met the music of Jani Hirvonen (Uton) when I was a young guy, searching for odd sounds and somewhat discovering psychedelic experimental folk music.
The sounds he made, his "deep forest" vibe was a great place to start and experience free folk music from my naive point of view. I remember entering in a sleepy mood, receiving all those feedback noises, those calm and mysterious frequencies. sounds were (and still are) unpredictable, free, distorted and always mutating. The kind of sounds that motivate you to explore more and more inside your own mind.
In the intervening years we turned out to be distance friends, and have collaborated together on some albums.
On "Bday-Lampazo-Trompeta" we took a different approach to the sounds that we used to have back in the 2000s free folk days: Bells, Trumpet, Field Recordings, Violin and Tapes.
The collage that you hear is a combination, a sonic restructuration of different places... It's somehow both a picture of Turku (the place in which Jani lives with his family in Finland) and also the vibe you get when you live in Salsipuedes ( the point where I live in Argentina). It's somehow eerie but still very concrete, it is calm and still raw: a city with its cars and people that is situated right at the beginning of a forest. And, of course, you have the The moon and the sun are situated simultaneously very high in the sky, both emanating their own energy."
