The cassette released by the American Pittsburgh techno writer Auton from the San Francisco label Left Hand Path has arrived in dead stock.Includes 8 jet-black techno songs that plunge into the abyss. Also includes remixes by Andrew Nolan, Nihar, 51717 and Chaperone. Includes a 16-page full-color booklet.It is out of print.

Left Hand Path is proud to welcome "Without Hindrance" --the latest in a series of mixed-media releases from Auton that explores the nature of insurrectionary rupture and the possibility to challenge the hegemony of power and violence held by the State. Following up on 2018's "La Lotta Continua" for Jacktone and the 2019 "Tute Bianche" ep (and its subsequent reconstructions) via TRAM Planet, "Without Hindrance" exists as a study of the events of the May '68 uprising in France, its capitulation to the spectacle of electoralism, and decline brought on by the failure to seize upon the moment of ultimate potential.

This release is housed in a clear vinyl bag and contains a professionally dubbed and printed audio cassette, featuring four original Auton tracks written between 2018 and 2019, as well as four reconstructions of these tracks by Andrew Nolan, Nihar, 51717 and Chaperone.

Also included is a full-color professionally-printed zine written in early 2019 by AE and anarchist tactician Tom Nomad (author of "The Master's Tools" and "Toward An Army Of Ghosts") which explores the ritualized behaviors of the radical milieu, the nature of the State and its capacity for intelligent evil, and ways forward that draw from the tradition of The Situationists in their articulation of a decentralized and constant insurrection of daily life.

The various elements of the release are drawn together with gorgeous hand-collaged artwork by Ashley Hohman, whose flair for brutal psychedelia compliments the techno-paranoiac sound and elegiac prose.

Gratification comes from an eternal search for solace. Locked away at the top of a lighthouse somewhere on an unnamed isle, Grady Steele broadcasts to those within the beacon’s reach. A soundsystem built of driftwood and salvaged car stereos is pieced together with precision and laboriously dragged to the top of the obelisk. A timeless fugue state spent playing arpeggios on a Spanish guitar, the PA system ebbing out phasing loops across benevolent waters. Layering, occasionally faulting, stopping, recording, starting again. The phosphorescent glow atop the obelisk ever-present.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003ePerhaps the first release on Archaic Vaults to feature (at least prominent) use of the guitar, these six compositions feel sketch-like and yet burned into the retina, like that of a passing car’s headlights leaving an impressionistic imprint of the source material. To mention this is Grady Steele’s debut release is not to imply he is new to working with sound, having been the proprietor of one of London’s most important soundsystems for the last decade. An obsession with fidelity can be heard and and at times deliberately perverted amongst the body of work. The warm and melancholic tones of the Spanish guitar evident in almost all songs are juxtaposed\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e with various collaged material, including what sounds like hastily captured iPhone recordings and drum machines neglected at the back of the studio, dragged out for one or two stubborn, lurching takes and then once more committed to storage. The 90s voice-imitator pads glowing with undulance are reminiscent of John T. Gast’s early studio takes, and the synergy and precision in guitar layering could lend a clue as to what Fuck Buttons would have sounded like had they sold off their studio equipment for a couple of wooden 12-stringers. The latest work from Archaic Vaults, a label run by experimental techno artist Nape from Berlin, Germany, has arrived. This is the label's first guitar work. This work is the debut cassette released in April 2024 by Grady Steele, an ambient folk writer from London, England. Contains 4 ambient folk songs with melancholic guitar arpeggios and field recordings. DL code included. Below is an explanation by the label. "Fragments of rubble wash up on a fog-shrouded coastline. The satisfaction of eternally searching for solace. Trapped atop a lighthouse somewhere on a nameless isle, Grady Steele lies within range of a beacon. A sound system made of driftwood and discarded car stereos is carefully pieced together and painstakingly carried to the top of the obelisk, while a Spanish guitar plays an arpeggio. Flowing in a phasing loop through the deep sea, layering, sometimes creating faults, stopping, recording, and starting again. There's always a phosphorescent glow on the obelisk. The first album to feature (at least prominently) these six songs, while sketchy, they leave a memorable imprint of their source material, burning into your retina like the headlights of a passing car. Although this is Grady Steele's debut, it's not his first time working with sound, having spent the past decade running one of London's most important sound systems. The warm, melancholic tone of the Spanish guitar can be heard in almost all of the songs, and is sometimes intentionally distorted. The juxtaposition includes things that seem to have been hastily recorded on an iPhone, and a drum machine left in the back of the studio, pulled out for a take or two, and then shelved again. The way the '6s voice imitator pads shine on the endurance is reminiscent of John T. Gast's early studio takes, and the synergy and precision of the guitar layering is reminiscent of Fuck Buttons' studio equipment.
