The timbre of a stringed instrument is constantly transforming between changing intonations. The rising and falling spectrum of various sonorities builds a pulsating, living whole. The gestural and perceptual quality of the stringed collection would exist somewhere between glacial and constant movement. In the end, I used sawtooth waves instead of string samples or acoustic instruments. Spectral Mask Room Construction This work explores audio perception and onset partials in spectral masking. I started with woodblock print samples. For me, the harsh yet beautiful impact sound of woodblock prints is complex. This short sound acts as a very noticeable and frightening sound cue. After listening to a single strike for many hours and performing a thorough spectral analysis, I began to hear and understand that the complex material complex of a strike extends beyond its short temporal lifespan. became. Bursts now exist as impulse responses. With each keystroke, the woodblock material conveyed information about the space in which it existed for the recording.
