Bruno Duplant, a French drone artist familiar to our store,, a CD released in June 2022 on the experimental label Unfathomless in Brussels, Belgium, in a limited edition of 6 copies.

This is a deep drone work mixed with field recording.

The following is a commentary by the writer himself.

The sound piece "Nox" not only reflects the traditional nocturnal bloodshed of the title, but also the multiple meanings created by the incomplete form of the dactylic hexameter and the palindrome In girum imus nocte ecce et consumimur igni. Based on interpretation. This painterly and poetic Latin phrase, often attributed to Virgil, refers to moths circling around a candle: ``We circle around in the night, be devoured by.”Also, closer to home, there is a French film directed by Guy Debord in 1978.The film (95 minutes) depicts consumer society and capitalist alienation, highlighting the conditions of modern-day slavery.Today, this Latin expression has taken on even new meanings due to the phenomena of ultraliberalism and the massive climate crisis.Humans, like moths, burn their wings on a fire they have lit and continue to do so despite warnings and threats. Are we witnessing the end of Guy Debord's Anthropocene, consumer society, and capitalist alienation? Artist statement by Bruno Duplant (translated into english):

"The sound piece Nox (in addition to reflecting the traditional nocturnal effluvia specific to the title) is based on the multiple meanings and interpretations that can be made of the incomplete form of the dactylic hexameter and palindrome In girum imus nocte ecce et consumimur igni. This Latin phrase, pictorial and poetic, most often attributed to Virgil, refers to the moths that circle around the candle before burning themselves, and which means: “We go around in circles in the night and we are devoured by fire “. It is also , much closer to us, a French film directed by Guy Debord in 1978. The film (lasting 95 min) describes the consumer society and capitalist alienation, applying to highlight the condition of modern slaves. Today even more this Latin expression takes on a new meaning with the phenomena of ultra-liberalism and major climate crisis. Man, like moths, burns his wings on the fires he himself lit and continues to maintain despite warnings and threats. Are we witnessing the end of the Anthropocene, of the consumer society and capitalist alienation described by Guy Debord?"
