Below is a commentary by the label.

"The fifth installment of Abstrakce's split LP collection 'The Encyclopedia of Civilizations'. This time, we focus on the mysterious Babylon, and feature two of the label's favorite electronic bands currently active.

Berlin-based duo Driftmachine take us on a journey through the ancient cities of Akkad, Uruk and Acheule. Modular ambient, leftfield, abstract dub... This complex structure has been carefully crafted down to the smallest detail. Unconventional tribal rhythms evoke ambiguous rituals, while warm, dynamic pulses contract and expand, interacting with each other like a journey through the sands of the Mesopotamian Basin, transporting you into a deep trance. lead

Glasgow-based Komodo Kolektif delves into Babylonian notions of magic through the use of Kassaptu (witches and wizards) and Mandragora. Utilizing vintage synths, effectors, oriental metallophones, and traditional hand percussion, they fuse tribal primitivism and futuristic vision. Deep, psychedelic electronics capture the spirit of ancient Babylonian sacred rituals and their cosmology.
This deluxe edition includes an extensive booklet with notes and images about Babylon, allowing you to immerse yourself in this fascinating civilization while listening to the music. The sleeves are printed the old-fashioned way. It is printed on high-quality recycled paper using a metal letterpress similar to Gutenberg's. "

Astonishing electronics with a superb and precise sound, floating somewhere between modular ambient, leftfield, abstract dub... Every detail has been carefully crafted in this complex architecture. Unconventional tribal rhythms recall obscure rituals, meanwhile warm, dynamic pulses contract and expand, interacting on their journey along the sandy roads of the Mesopotamian basin and leading you into a deep trance.

Glasgow-based project Komodo Kolektif delves into the Babylonian vision of magic through the figures of the Kassaptu (witches and wizards) and the use of Mandragora. A blend of both tribal primitivism and a futuristic vision is provided by their vast arsenal of vintage synths and effects units, eastern metallophones and traditional hand percussion. Deep, psychedelic electronics that capture the spirit of ancient Babylonian sacred ceremonies and their vision of the cosmos.
