"Zaumne aka Mateusz Olszewski presents seven studies of emotions in a world without emo in a new full-length cassette Emo dub.

Zaumne spends hours exploring the Youtube platform, diving into synthetic emotional ASMR videos, after which he turns the material he picks up into gold in a meaningful and poetic way.

Emo dub is about being in love, sharing flat time with friends, breaking up, being happy, being sad, being tired, being unable to sleep at night, longing, social media. She sings about relationships and emotions, like being trapped in the feed.

In an interview, Zaumne said that he likes listening to ambient music early in the morning after a night in the club.He could feel the techno pulse still echoing through his body, and he says he's projecting new layers onto what he hears in the room.This description fits well with the music he makes.A palette of muffled lo-fi beats and soothing textures will keep you in tune with your mind and body for hours. "

"On his new full length cassette 'Emo dub' Zaumne aka Mateusz Olszewski presents seven studies on emotions in emo-less world.

Zaumne spent hours exploring the Youtube platform, diving into ASMR videos of artificial emotions, later on he transformed found material into a gold in a meaningful, poetic way.

'Emo Dub' is about relations and feelings: being in love, sharing flat with friends, breaking off, being happy, being sad, being tired, staying awake at night, longing, being trapped in social media feed.

Zaumne said in one interview that he enjoys to listen to ambient music early in the morning after the night spent in the club. He can then still feel the techno pulse echoing in his body and his mind is projecting new layers on sounds he listens in a room. This description fits quite well to music he produces, with a palette of muffled lo-fi beats and soothing textures which resonates pleasantly for a long time in listeners minds and bodies."

His expertly curated annual No Fun Festival, as well as his No Fun label, further solidified him as a key figure in the international noise scene. The festival’s success proved the formula for experimental and improvised music fests could work with the noise underground as well, but it also capitalized on the faster rate of connections being made between geographically disparate artists as a result of the (still relatively nascent) internet. Back then Carlos would play his laptop like a pinball machine, in contrast to the static stage presence of most laptop performers, and his solo music, like many others’ at that time, expressed a less dark and dour vision of the implications of harsh noise. By the close of the 2000s, he had stopped doing the festival, switched gears musically to playing the lighter No Fun Acid sets, and moved to LA.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eNow he has re-emerged in a big way with Dream Walker, his first full-length since 2018’s Vain (and only his second since 2010). Inspired by the masterful performances and diffusions he heard at the February 2023 GRM electronic music festival in Paris, particularly sets by old friends Lasse Marhaug, Jim O’Rourke, and Eiko Ishibashi\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e, he began conceptualizing new music of his own in response, turning to synthesizers and other hardware to produce a work more firmly in the tradition of European electronic music than anything else he’s done. His expertly curated annual No Fun Festival, as well as his No Fun label, further solidified him as a key figure in the international noise scene. The festival’s success proved the formula for experimental and improvised music fests could work with the noise underground as well, but it also capitalized on the faster rate of connections being made between geographically disparate artists as a result of the (still relatively nascent) internet. Back then Carlos would play his laptop like a pinball machine, in contrast to the static stage presence of most laptop performers, and his solo music, like many others’ at that time, expressed a less dark and dour vision of the implications of harsh noise. By the close of the 2000s, he had stopped doing the festival, switched gears musically to playing the lighter No Fun Acid sets, and moved to LA.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eNow he has re-emerged in a big way with Dream Walker, his first full-length since 2018’s Vain (and only his second since 2010). Inspired by the masterful performances and diffusions he heard at the February 2023 GRM electronic music festival in Paris, particularly sets by old friends Lasse Marhaug, Jim O’Rourke, and Eiko Ishibashi\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan class=\"bcTruncateMore\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e, he began conceptualizing new music of his own in response, turning to synthesizers and other hardware to produce a work more firmly in the tradition of European electronic music than anything else he’s done.
