Shizuo Uchida and Kyosuke Terada, the improvisational duo Mai Mao, who are leading the Tokyo underground experiment scene with more than 100 live performances a year, will be performing in September 2022.This is a released CD.

Includes 4 dazzling kaleidoscope collage jazz songs woven by guitar, bass, and a large number of effectors.Below is an explanation.

Japanese free improvisation duo MAI MAO's first LP.Uchida (bass) from Shizuo Hasegawa and Albedo Gravitas, and Terada from HUH (soon to be released from An'archives), TERROR SHIT, Bay City Rolaz, Praymate and The Obey Unit.

MAI MAO's music progresses through contradictions and parallels.From the frantic rush of flying notes to the granular stillness of Uchida and Terada dipping their instruments in and out of deep fountains of silence, or temporarily submerging themselves in fermenting lagoons of fuzz. It looks different.In the opening "Chew a flying flash prayer," the guitar and bass leap into each other in leapfrog and twister games, finding new ways to bewilder the listener, and presumably each other in the process, Uchida and Terada are completely out of place. Devoted to short-sightedness.

This energy is very lively, but at the same time shows curiosity and devoted attention to improvisational reactions, and can split in different directions in an instant.So purely free-thinking, the committed duo's improvisation unfolds in its most playful and intelligent way.Side by side with Davey Williams & LaDonna Smith and the rest of the Transmusk, or the Dave Dove Paul duo's sinister, enigmatic bass synth and trombone duet, what's going on here? This is a CD released by Argentine psychedelic collage artist Bardo Todol on Tokyo's experimental label Zappak in May 2024. Below is an explanation by the label. "Pablo Picco, also known as Bardo Todol, is an Argentinian artist. So far, he has produced various cassette works both solo and in collaboration, and has been released on labels such as Sucata Tapes, Full Spectrum, Never Anything, Zoomin' Night, and presses précaires. This work is full of sounds that make it seem like his daily life has been dissolved into a tape recorder, including sounds from his family, the sounds of various instruments, and more. All of them are recorded on one tape, and the resolution is melted away.It gives the listener the pleasure of picking up each one and imagining what they are hearing. This is a CD released by Tokyo double bass players Yukiko Shiina Sakurazawa and Kon Okuma on Tokyo's experimental label Zappak in May 2024. Below is an explanation by the label. "Shina Yukiko Sakurazawa is a contrabass player who mainly works in the field of classical music. On the other hand, Kon Okuma is a contrabass player who works mainly in the field of jazz. However, both of them play improvisations irregularly at a venue called Ftarri. Wondering what would happen if these two people from different backgrounds collaborated, zappak decided to plan an event that mainly involved bows. , Okuma mainly took the approach of using tools such as finger picks and sticks.The two people's sounds were sometimes quiet and other times eloquent, repeating the sound without moving.
