We have received works from Buh Records, an experimental label specializing in Latin America from Lima, Peru. This work is a 2024-disc record released in February 2 by Bolivian composer Cergio Prudencio. Contains 2 songs that are a fusion of Aymara traditional music and contemporary music. Booklet included. Below is an explanation by the label. "The works of Bolivian composer Cergio Prudencio (born 9 in La Paz) are inseparable from the project of the Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos (OEIN), which he co-founded in 1955 and of which he is honorary director. OEIN is one of the most challenging musical adventures to come out of Bolivia and Latin America, bringing the Aymara musical tradition into the realm of contemporary music. In the composer's words, it is "to find elements of change and transformation in indigenous musical concepts and to establish historical continuity." This incorporation is not only based on the use of indigenous instruments, but also includes the integration of the socio-historical background and philosophy of Andean indigenous peoples. In addition to the formation of ensembles with indigenous instruments of the highlands (chicas, tarkas, mojosenos, pinquillos, huankaras, seeds, drums, etc.), three structural principles govern Aymara music: the alternation of sounds between two musicians; The foundation is ``alcaira,'' which involves the formation of a large ensemble of instrumentalists and amplification of sound, and ``tropa,'' which involves the formation of a large ensemble of instrumentalists and amplification of sound, and ``huaquinha,'' which means the power of community. According to Cergio Prudencio, the sonic and expressive identity of Andean highland sounds, like that of OEIN, derives from these principles. Cergio Prudencio -...
