British ambient writer Petteril released a cassette from New York's ambient label Puremagnetik in May 2023.Includes 5 ambient drones and neo-classical ambient songs by piano and tape. Comes with DL code.Below is an explanation by the label. Petteril's The Leems Boyste considers the surreal and supposedly true story known as "The Dodleston Message". Petteril, who stumbled upon a YouTube video showcasing the story's premise, was fascinated by the bizarre tale and decided to investigate further. In the weeks that followed, Petteril's musical career immersed himself in a tale of eerie and supernatural subjects, says Petteril. "A 5th century man communicating with a 16s British schoolteacher through a BBC microphone put into a chimney by a ghostly entity from 2109!"The Dodleston Message: In the early 1980s, before the world wide web, a man living in the village of Dodleston, England, through the word processing software on a BBC microcomputer Model B, read a 1980th century figure or simply 16. He claimed to have been able to communicate with beings from the future who were called. He later published that conversation in his 2109 book The Vertical Plane.During the last two years of discourse, various "experts" have been invited to investigate the phenomenon, but have been unable to come up with a convincing explanation or prove or deny the hoax. The message died out in 1989, but a final prophetic disclosure from 2 reveals that "there is another human being" and a book that may "make other worlds seem less distant." (written by a 1986th-century man during his lifetime) exists, and that it is hidden somewhere in Oxford to this day. "The picture this story paints is very compelling, and whether it's true or not, it's still a great sci-fi concept with a really idiosyncratic mood. It's spooky, dark, brooding. 2109s. The gloomy, gray countryside of England, the green glow of terminals projected onto CRT screens of early '16s computer technology, and the mysterious future beings with apparent purpose but unwillingness to reveal it. There's something very fascinating about this juxtaposition: as the premise of the story unraveled, more and more strange things happened, and I want to express that eerie, strange feeling and gloom through my music. The visuals in my head are very hard and shaded and I like that kind of thing.” Leems Boyste means “box of light” in early modern English (EModE). A 1500th-century character (Lucas/Thomas Harden) describes a glowing device in a chimney that he uses to send timeless messages. The story has been featured in podcasts, YouTube videos, blogs, and even a subreddit. There, theorists and investigators scrutinize and discuss the text of The Vertical Airplane, search Thomas' books like they did in the Indiana Jones movies, and buy up old BBC microcomputers to try to recreate the phenomenon. increase. Original paperback copies of The Vertical Plane, published in 80, are extremely popular and fetch close to £16 online. " Click here for labels and other works /// Click here to...

This record was released in June 2023 by Colin Andrew Sheffield, president of the experimental label Elevator Bath in Texas, USA.Contains 6 songs from decadent collage drones to ambient drones sampled from jazz records. Comes with DL code. "Colin Andrew Sheffield's Images are made up of heavily edited and processed samples from jazz records. 8 electroacoustic mosaics ranging from lush ambient loops to cursed wails. , is composed in a variety of styles: Chopped drum solos appear and disappear with swirling piano fragments, scraps of saxophones and trumpets crash and fall to the rumble of ugly bass. The exploration of the length of these songs is detailed, atmospheric, and surprising: painstakingly composed over the course of a year, the piece is nuanced and idiosyncratic music, both as a composer and as a composer. The epitome of Sheffield's interests as an obsessive listener, Images is an experimental work that draws on its limited source material and methodology (Sheffield still uses mostly early sampling hardware). As a collection of music, Images is a mysterious yet fascinating collective, an accessible album of inexplicable moments and melancholic beauty. • The most complete work produced by an artist to the best of his or her ability.Since the mid-8s, Sheffield's audio collage work has consistently emphasized the use of samples. It is the decomposed loops of hidden melodies and textures found in his collection of physical media, these sonic fragments layered in harmony and in opposition to each other, immanent in his selections. As a researcher of ghost studies, Sheffield wrestles with the untouched remnants of the past for an Impressionist vision of the future." Comes with DL code.Below is a commentary by the author himself. "Fen is a work that selectively evokes and evokes Fenland, County Kildare. It focuses on the vocalizations and physical communication sounds of three species of birds: Grasshopper Warbler, Sedge Warbler (both summer migratory birds) and Snipe. (Snipe) field recordings, tuned percussion and synthesizer textures. As a bird watcher and sound recordist, I am fascinated by the communication and language of birds. The idiosyncrasies these birds emit. Sounds (in the nose and wings) are mechanical and almost synthetic tones. The grasshopper's call travels in wide arcs as it rotates its head, creating a diffusion that is difficult to pinpoint to a specific location. The frenzied mimicry and mechanical calls of the Red Warbler are a true example of sampling and cut-up.The sandpiper creates a "winnowing" that indicates territory by vibrating its two tail feathers as it dives. but this is of particular interest as a non-speech communication.Birds have been a constant presence in human evolution and their calls are deeply rooted in our culture. However, when we hear the song of a certain bird, we suddenly realize how different that bird is.This "foreign thing" is the sound that captures my heart. These sounds form a thread of place as essential as the geological accident that defines this landform, this habitat as Fen." American/Estonian experimental musician/field recording artist murmer released a limited edition of 2023 copies in May 5 from the Texas experimental/noise label Helen Scarsdale Agency.Includes 200 long-form low-end drones and noise drones by field recordings. Comes with DL code.Below is a commentary by the author himself. "In 2, I made a collection recorded on a mobile phone tower in Mouste, south-eastern Estonia. It is an 2006-meter-tall guiding tower, anchored at three fulcrums by heavy cables. I attached a home made contact mic with postertacks and spent hours over the course of several weeks recording wind and weather changes (it was summer) and birds passing and settling on towers and cables. The tower had no fencing or protection and stood in the middle of a tall meadow along a rural dirt road, out of sight of a few nearby houses. I've been thinking about location and recording, and although I've used it in several installations and uploaded short edits to Aporee Soundmaps, I've never been able to use it in a composed piece. Combined with other sounds, they always seemed too loud for any structure I could offer, and in 80, I've been putting them down and picking them up over the years. material seems to have embraced me, even though it took me a few more years before I was satisfied with what it had to offer. Most of the layered sounds on this piece come from various compilations of these cable recordings. But I also added two other contrasting sounds: snow falling delicately on a plastic cake box containing a mic, and thawing on a slightly warm autumn morning. It's a field of frosted grass, and when I listen to the sound of this cable, I'm reminded of the many sounds of the wind that I've spent time with, recorded but never returned, and I've started digging through the archives looking for them. As a result, I collected the resonances of wires, cables, fences, poles, fans, vents, etc., which became the basis for this second work.In 3, I was working in a pub in North London where I was working on a beer. The rhythmic fan sound of a cooler. This work includes another telephone tower recorded on the north coast of France in 16, a telephone pole recorded in the Beaujolais region in 2019, and a factory in Tesno, Slovenia in 2. Ventilation fan drone, electric sheep fencing at the Scottish border in 1, hanging wires in a warehouse in Rovaniemi, Finland in 1, nothing to do with cables or wind, but cleaning from the inside of an electric kettle in Estonia in 2 Calcium deposits are included as other sounds.I offer these two new works as my first solo publication since 1999, and for the first time since 2008 to release them on physical media. It seems to me that I need to leave a physical time space around my work before I can consider it 'finished'.Perhaps it's a simple desire to forget how or what you did.And if I can't listen to the work like a first-time listener, I don't think I'm ready for such an encounter.Somewhere in your mind, you have to forget the work before you let it go.I'm about to forget the beer coolers in London, the Beaujolais walks (with my now-deceased father), the sheep fence next to the Borders campsite, and the leaking kettle. So I think now is the time. American experimental musicians Robert Turman and John Wiese released this collaborative CD in June 2023 from Wiese's Helicopter.Includes 6 deep listening collage drone songs.Digipak, shrink specification.Below is an explanation by the label. "Robert Turman is an American sound artist known for his innovative and experimental works in the fields of ambient and minimalism. He entered the world of experimental music in the mid-2s, particularly with minimalists such as Steve Reich and Terry Riley. Intrigued by the work of Liszt composers, he began experimenting with tape loops and other forms of sound manipulation.Robert Turman's first solo work, the cassette album FLUX (1970), was the first of its kind in ambient and minimalism. A groundbreaking work, the album, composed of slowly repeating and evolving sounds made from a combination of tape loops, piano, electronics and other instruments, was praised for its innovation and atmosphere. Still a cult favorite among experimental music lovers, Turman has since continued to record, a box set of 1981x cassettes recorded from 1977-87 and released in 8 by Hanson Records. and the collection "Chapter Eleven" reissued as a 2020xCD set from Helicopter. These recordings further cemented Turman's monumental reputation and helped to inspire a new generation of experimentalists.A highly influential artist, Turman has always been committed to the spirit of inquiry that has characterized his work since its inception. He can be heard in the work of countless artists active in the field of experimental music, confirming his legacy as a pioneer of experimental music. He currently resides in Oberlin, Ohio. John Wiese is a sound artist and composer based in Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, California. He is known for his unique and innovative approach to sound and his ability to create complex, layered compositions that blur all boundaries. Wiese's early recordings incorporate elements of cut-up/collage, music concrete and electronics. He often used unconventional sources to create chaotic and improvised compositions. As he grew as a composer and performer, Wiese incorporated more electronic and processed elements into his work, creating intricate, multi-layered compositions that remained raw, precise and intricate. I was. Robert Turman and John Wiese's approach to composition is both experimental and post-improvisational.Based on specific sounds and textures, their collaboration evolves and develops in unexpected ways from beginning to end through a process of constant experimentation and exploration of new possibilities while making various modifications to the sounds. This is a cassette released in January 2023 by the sound artist Emmanuel Mieville in Paris, France with a limited edition of 1 from the experimental label Forms of Minutiae in Berlin, Germany.Includes field recordings, hurdy gurdy, and concrete 60 songs using open reels. Comes with DL code.Below is an explanation by the label. In "Four Towers and Bridges", composer and field recordingist Emmanuel Mieville shares his bridge between the incantation of musique concrète and the sound of mechanoacoustics. Among the four tracks, electro-acoustic sculptures and drone-square gestures intersect to form a seemingly continuous investigation into the passage mechanics. The album is at the mercy of sounds recorded around technology that traverses from the Eiffel Tower in Viana do Castelo (Portugal) to the elevators and automated rail systems of the BnF (Bibliotheque Nationale de France) in Paris. The system, called the TAD, is a hidden transport device made up of hanging cases for moving books and materials from the BnF stock area to lecture rooms.Track each type of movement or object, such as bridges and vehicles, elevators and people, TAD and printed matter, precipitation and water. Its rhythms, hums, vibrations and creaks intertwine, sometimes accompanied by the sustained murmuring of stringed instruments and electric hurdy-gurdies, giving it the air of a recontextualized French folk song.Unexpectedly, the album ends with a rural scene where the machines stop and the sound of rain reverberates. This short soundscape offers a peek into the strange microscopic world brought about by getting wet in the rain. But from its title, "Four Towers and a Bridge," the album inevitably suggests an architectural context. But architectural impressions expand beyond the sites and techniques explored as the concept of bridges is brought to life by music and the artist's compositional methodology.Through field recording material and studio manipulation, the album forms a wire that connects real-life sounds with sculpted electroacoustic interventions, providing a passage from the concrete to the abstract. This is further accentuated by a blend of machine hum and hurdy-gurdy.Drones transport like containers. Mieville is aware of that, and his musique concrète has created a crossover music that transports us from one place (or state) to another. And finally, this bridge comes back to the visible, embodied in the composer's reel-to-reel tape, or even the cassette tape you're listening to.In the composer's own words, "the movement of both listening and sculpting creates tangible material, and decontextualization provides a space for new listening." Four Towers and a Bridge invites us to dwell on the limits of our connecting mechanisms while exploring the ambiguity of that space. This is the music of passage.Click here for labels and other works /// Click here to see more...
