Full Spectrum Records:

"Full Spectrum is pleased to welcome the Venezulean sound artist and composer Gil Sansón to our little label family with the release of a new suite of hushed sonic miniatures, 'Impostor Syndrome.'

From his studio in Caracas, Sansón has kept up a steady pace of work for more than 20 years, creating sonic accompaniment for performance artists, fully realized compositional works, unadorned field recording studies, and a stream of quietly understated solo albums for labels like Very Quiet Music, Contour Editions, Mystery Sea, and others. In more recent years, he's dedicated much of his energy to engaging long distance collaborations with like-minded artists from around the world, including the 2020 release of 'Suppedaneum,' alongside Canadian artists Lance Olsen and Daniel Godlovitch.

Recorded at home during the last half of 2020, the material presented on 'Impostor Syndrome' was very much conceived in reaction to the shifting perspectives and social realities of the height of the pandemic era. Sansón found a renewed desire to communicate in song-based forms, while still holding firm to his working methods and philosophies as an experimental artist. – guitar, melodica, cheap keyboards, etc. – with radio static constructs and a musique concrète sensibility, placing these seemingly disparate sonic components on an aesthetically even footing.

The typical 'logic' that defines musical forms has also been disregarded here, with standard tuning, rhythm, and verse / chorus forms being all but thrown out with the bathwater. Indeed, these are folk songs writ via bricolage – a basic idea is recorded , cut, edited, and amended with additional sonic material until it's final form emerges from the mix, fully featured and exquisitely balanced within a logic all its own.
