This album was the result of 6 years of experimentation and learning, continually evolving ideas through an iterative process of trial and error. It spanned a period where I moved from my hometown of Sacramento to San Francisco, transitioned from my career as a graphic designer to a full time musician and signed with a record label. It was the impetus for forming the band and Zac, Rory and I ended up spending the better part of the next 8 years touring and recording. World_train, meanwhile, is an eccentric and brilliantly odd angle on Bullion’s love of pop, its locomotive power summoning a lost past amidst the uncertainties of the everyday. ‘I can hardly understand what it takes to be a real man’, Bullion sings. ‘…and nobody can’, Adigéry confirms. Still, connections - missed, imagined, or still possible - cocoon much of Affection, with Panda Bear collaboration A City’s Never emerging after Noah and Nathan lived in Lisbon at the same time but never actually met. It really feels like yesterday. It was recorded over a 10 month period between February and October of 2013 and was the first album that Zac, Rory and I recorded as a band. It really feels like yesterday. It was recorded over a 10 month period between February and October of 2013 and was the first album that Zac, Rory and I recorded as a band. We had been touring together since Dive came out two years prior and wanted to translate the more visceral energy of the live show into a studio album.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eWe focused on keeping things focused and concise, a stark contrast to the sweeping soundscape arrangements of Dive. I remember it being a very freeing feeling to strip things back to reveal more singular concepts within the songs.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eWe turned the album in and immediately began preparing to play the songs live. The album came out on March 18th, 2014 and the next night we played the first show of the tour at The Catalyst in Santa Cruz followed by a show at The Fillmore in San Francisco the following night.
