Bokoya & Gianni Brezzo // Minari LP

Cologne, Germany jazz hip-hop band Bokoya and guitarist Gianni Brezzo released a collaborative record in June 2023 from Cologne's hip-hop label Melting Pot.

Includes 5 jam sessions performed by 3 people over 12 days at a studio in Cologne. Comes with DL code. 

Below is a commentary by the label.

"Experimental hip-hop/jazz quartet Bokoya has teamed up with Cologne-based producer/guitarist Gianni Brezzo (Jakarta Records) to release a collaborative album 'Minari' on Melting Pot Music.

Bokoya describe themselves as four-headed human drum machines playing improvised beat music.You could call it jazz (all four started their careers as jazz musicians).), krautrock, ambient, dub, etc., so I want you to listen with the preparedness to stumble.Their double album "Hausensession" (Melting Pot Music, 2) is recommended as a reference.

Gianni Brezzo's music is a little more accessible, but not inferior to Leftfield.Jazz is a big influence, but it goes even further.In the album "Tutto Grosso" (Jakarta, 2022),Brezzo is riding a sonic wave akin to Matthew Halsall, Surprise Chef, El Michel's Affair and BADBADNOTGOOD.

The recording took place at Gottesweg Studios in Cologne, where Bokoya and Gianni Brezzo jammed for three days and nights based on some basic sketches and beats.Session edited and arranged by Bokoya and Brezzo, no overdubs added

Minari, also known as water parsley, is a fragrant vegetable that is often used in Korean cuisine.It is known for its slightly bitter, peppery flavor.It goes well with kimchi, spicy fish soup, stewed dishes, and pork belly. "
