"Arab-American producer Peter Kirn is an avid electronic musician with interdisciplinary artistic interests, working in themes of modern dance, fashion, clubbing, space exploration, instruments and vocals. Academically trained, he also researches and writes about new tools for music and filmmaking at CDM.link.
Peter Kirn on the album 4Q246 showcases his creative flair for mixing different textures.Added to the Industrial Complexx catalog.Looking back on his releases so far, he's never rested on a set sound, each one being the result of an exploration, and without prior listening it's impossible to predict the style and technique of his albums. turns out to be almost impossible.
Perhaps it's somewhat easier to guess the sonic signature of 4Q246 just because it's been released on a label like Industrial Complexx and has a fairly defined style, but it's the kind of sound he uses on each of his seven tracks. Equally astonishing are the harmonious combinations. Peter Kirn mixes a wide variety of sources, from metallic textures to other organic elements, distorted, abysmal or elaborate rhythmic structures.
4Q246 is an elegy for a prophetic vision, an archaic dance, an opposing duality told in a series of apocalyptic or revelatory musical snippets.
The title, 4Q246, was taken from a fragment of the Apocalypse in Aramaic in the Dead Sea Scrolls found by the Bedouins in the caves of Qumran.Despite attempts to see the work through a primitive Christian filter, what attracted me most was the vivid portrayal of trauma from another era, and the Aramaic word for it, ziqaya. (probably "meteor" or "comet").It is a half-erased prophecy of the future, in its encoding, both cosmological and geopolitical, of our own attempts to divulge the world around us and make meaning out of violence. some are included.
