Tenerife jazz trio Cruz Perro Maldito will join Portuguese jungle label Discrepant in June 2023.Debut record released from Keroxen.

"The debut of the Tenerife-based trio Cruz Perro Maldito, forever immersed in the collective imagination and folklore mythology of the mysterious and misty mountain of Agua Garcia, in the Tacoronte district at the foot of the Teide volcano. Sophisticated sound textures from modular synths and processed guitars create abstract, random rhythmic patterns, while intricate sax lines take the ensemble from quiet to threatening passages of sudden noise and frenzy. It's an improvisational explosion of free jazz.

Entitled 'Truquetin Resorte', the album draws inspiration from the rich history of mechanical automata.For example, Talos, the bronze giant who defended Crete and was eventually defeated by Jason and the Argonauts.The Apega de Nabis, modeled after the wife of King Nabis, cuts off unsuspecting victims with hidden iron spikes in her lower arms, hands, and chest.Also, automaton replicas like Rene Descartes and his infamous daughter are macabre creations made by the famous philosopher to evoke his dead daughter.

These myths were reminders of the mechanical world's past, a world of complex automata stories featuring mechanical "imitation" beings as protagonists.It's the eerie antithesis of today's hyper-modern digital world and the rapidly advancing AIs.

Or Apega de Nabis, a replica of King Nabis' wife whom crossed unsuspecting victims with its iron spikes hidden in the device's lower arms, hands and breasts. Or even René Descartes and his infamous daughterlike Automaton replica, an eerie creation from the renown philosopher to evoke his dead daughter

These myths and more serve as reminder of a mechanical world's past, a world of complex automata stories with mechanic 'imitating' beings as its problematic protagonists. An eerie counterpoint to our current uber modern digital world and its rapidly advancing AIs
