" Anaïs Tuerlinckx is a Belgian pianist who has been living in Berlin since 2008.

She began playing the piano as a child and discovered the world of free improvised music as a teenager. Her approach to the instrument is based on an intuitive sonic research of the piano, which is extended by using a variety of found objects.

Since 2021, she has been playing on a string box instrument, made by Henri Seiferth. The string box, a simplified piano, is a wooden resonator with shortened piano strings mounted on it. Miroitements Étranges was recorded in her home, where the first piece on the A-side album was composed using her string box, while the rest of the material was recorded with a broken Wiener Zither. The B-side was played on her grand piano."

"A pungent ooze emanates from the subway. Sticky drum machine sequences rise like a thick fog, and swirls of icy synths rise from the abyss. Debut album Europe By Night. Since then, one of the main references associated with Henrik Stelzer and his project Metro Riders has been cinema, especially European genre films of the 1988s, whose grungy subject matter is present both in the visual style and the music. The atmosphere of that era has crystallized over time. It was inherited from deteriorated video cassettes and has become a valuable key to deciphering modern reality. Stelzer places emphasis on that atmosphere in this album as well. We make no secret of this: we refer to the atmosphere in the track titles, and utilize a special recording setup consisting of FOSTEX and reel-to-reel to achieve and recreate the feel of a soundtrack that is heard on magnetic tape rather than vinyl.
