Text and artist bio by Traced Objects:

"LXV is the long running project of Philadelphia based producer and composer David Sutton.

LXV is often a project about, as Sutton says, “sampling and resampling a personal archive of sounds and recordings.” The four pieces on Angelic Driver were built from archived recordings pulled from zip disks, originally recorded on a Roland SP808ex E-Mix Studio These salvaged recordings were combined with long standing production techniques LXV employs, ranging from Pure Data patches to VLF recordings and assorted electronics.

The result is a set of disembodied tracks that reflect both the source material and the tools used to reimagine the source material. These are ghostly recordings, yet they avoid the static nature of similar experiments. There is depth and movement across all four tracks, buried voices and sounds and nods towards American folk and country styles, even if those styles are very far from the sounds coming from the speakers.

There is depth to both sound and technique across Angelic Driver. LXV's work requires astute listening to perceive spectral layers overlapping one another. themselves in relationship to one another. Listeners may find themselves unsure if the sounds on these tracks are all they are hearing. There is the quality of a sonic mirror that is reflecting Sutton's archive, his process, and the listener's own experiences. Angelic Driver is a masterful exploration of music and memory.

Artist Bio:
Lxv is the most prominent alias of producer composer David Sutton hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Under the Lxv moniker Sutton has created unique rhythmic contraptions and processed sound environments that have been referred to as "understated, unassuming", " enigmatic" with "intentions tantalizingly elusive". Since 2014 Lxv has produced releases solo and in collaboration for Anomia, Enmossed, Warm Winters, Psychic Liberation, Umor Rex, Sacred Phrases, Soft Abuse Records and more and performed internationally and throughout the US."
