This is a record released by De Schuurman, a bubbling house artist from The Hague, Netherlands, from the dance label Nyage Nyage in Kampala, Uganda, in November 2023. (Original cassette release in 11)

"In the late 1980s, as techno and house swept across Europe and moved from city to city, a young DJ from Curaçao made a mistake that sparked an entirely new sound.DJ Moortje was performing at Voltage club in The Hague when he accidentally dropped a dancehall track at 33 RPM instead of 45 RPM and let it play out. Audiences hungry for the Hi-NRG sound loved the squeaky vocals and rapid beats, and Bubbling (or Bubbling House) was born.

For decades afterward, Bubbling remained an integral part of the Dutch Afro-diaspora club scene.And as a new generation of young, wide-eyed DJs and producers took the reins, Bubbling evolved accordingly. In the late 2000s, The Hague-based teenage prodigy De Schuurman started working with his uncle DJ Chippy (one of the genre's co-founders) and cousins ​​DJ Daycard, DJ Master D, Stiko Jr. and DJ Just. Following in Mi's footsteps, he started performing and making beats. Using Fruityloops, his tracks quickly became regulars on the Dutch circuit, fusing familiar bubbly rhythms with rap and R&B samples, trance synths and electro-house.

Bubbling Inside is a collection of De Schuurman's most important cuts from 2007 to 2009, with some new material added for context. Nyege Nyege Tapes, along with Sascha Roth of Rotterdam's Pantropical and De Schuurman himself, located and collected most of these tracks.Listening to these together, it becomes clear how forward-thinking this young producer was, leading the Dutch establishment into the future.

2008's 'First One' is a proto-Bergain masterpiece, with a booming bass-heavy kick supporting the cheeky melody that has become the genre's calling card. "Pier Je Bil!!!" picks up the tempo, twisting bubbling, syncopated dancehall kicks into rapid-fire club clutter, topped with a steelpan melody.Elsewhere, 2019's Domina shows how Schulman's production style has evolved, retaining its bubbling DNA while mutating trap percussion, dubstep bass, and eerie synth textures. . "Bubbling Inside" is a collection of Schuurman's most essential cuts from the era (2007-2009), with a couple of newer productions added for context. Crafted solely for the dance, most of these tracks were never properly released and have been painstakingly hunted down and collected by the Nyege Nyege Tapes together with Sascha Roth from Pantropical in Rotterdam and De Schuurman himself. Hearing them together highlights just how forward thinking the young producer was, steering a Dutch institution into the future.

'Pier Je Bil!!' ratchets up the tempo, twisting bubbling's syncopated dancehall kicks into a rapid-fire club clatter and decorating them with steel-pan melodies.
